Formononetin
Red clover (Latin name: Trifolium pratense L.), also known as red clover, clover, red clover, etc., is a short-term perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Trifolium in the family Fabaceae;
Red clover extract is extracted from dried stems and leaves with flowers. The extract is usually standardized to contain 8%, 20% and 40% of biochanin. The ingredients include formononetin, biochanin A, daidzein and genistein, accounting for 73-76%, 23-25%, less than 1% and less than 1% respectively.
Formononetin is found in a number of plants and herbs such as red clover. Along with other phytoestrogens, it predominantly occurs in leguminous plants and Fabaceae, particularly in beans, such as green beans, lima beans, soy and many others, as the free aglycone or in the form of its glucoside ononin.
