Polygonum cuspidatum, a Chinese medicine, is the dried rhizome and root of Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb.et Zucc. of the Polygonaceae family. It is collected in spring and autumn, the fibrous roots are removed, washed, cut into short sections or thick slices while fresh, and dried in the sun. It is distributed in Northwest China, East China, Central China, South China and Southwest China.
